Description
Dating from circa 1925, this Art Deco strap bracelet is composed of over seventeen carats of diamonds and emeralds mounted in platinum. The bracelet is designed as a flexible articulated band highlighted by three marquise-cut diamonds framed by calibré-cut emeralds, set amid strap work motifs and and fields of 381 round-cut diamonds. Unusually finely articulated, this Art Deco diamond strap is radiantly sparkling and conforms like textile to the wrist.
Materials: 381 round-cut diamonds (approximate total weight 14.85 carats); 3 marquise-cut diamonds (approximate total weight 2.25 carats); 30 calibré-cut emeralds (approximate total weight 0.60 carat); Platinum; 18K Gold
Gram Weight: 58.7
The bracelet - in its many beloved forms - was the "in vogue" ornament of the 1920s. Flexible diamond straps highlighted by patterns of fancy cuts and accented by calibré-cut noble stones were often worn with diamond dress clips. In juxtaposing these gems of different so-called "fancy-cuts" and "calibré-cuts", which had been widely introduced in these small sizes in the late 1910s–early 1920s, jewelers could create dynamic visual effects that paralleled the dramatic flexibility of movement achieved by the ever-evolving platinum technology, which involved manufacturing precision down to fractions of a millimeter. -
