Description During this timeframe there was a very strong emphasis on naturalistic elements and many famous jewelry designers would observe locally and even travel to far away lands to find inspirations for their designs in flowers, insects and other attributes in nature.
The present piece is a rare late 1800s Art Nouveau 18kt Yellow Gold, French hallmarked, Diamond & Ruby set Brooch designed as a spider. There is special attention to detail with brushed realistic textured legs, ruby set eyes & Old Mine Diamond stones as center body and Deep Red Garnet Cabochon as end.
It is also important to note that the present spider is of especially unique creation because of its design during this timeframe.
Very few examples were created with their legs aligned In this manner from timeframe.
A similar example of such a brooch and design can be found in the book by Henri Vever's French Jewelry of the 19th century which was designed by Rene Lalqiue who was known for creating this design during this timeframe.
