Vintage French Signed Enamel Necklace by Loutzia
-
Description
A period French enamel over copper necklace with diamond pattern geometrical decoration signed by Jewelry desiigner Loutzia.
Loutzia is the name and brand of a Parisian enamel workshop, contraction of the names of its two founders, Marie-Louise Poncin and Maritzia Pravaz, both of Lyon origin, born in 1914. They meet at the Beaux-Arts of Paris, painting section. A friend makes them discover the technique of enamel. They open together a first workshop, rue Soufflot, then settle down rue Daguerre. They exhibit their jewelry, first in lyon, at Marcel Michaud's Folklore gallery, then in Paris, at Mai gallery, at La Cremaillère by André Renou, and at La Demeure, at the invitation of Denise Majorelle. They get their first orders (a large enamelled cross for Aix-le-Bains, sculpted by Alexandre Noll ...) create clocks dials, buttons and loops of haute couture belts (Christian Dior). But it is the jewels that make them live and recognize. They sell them for a short time at the Galerie du Siècle, then permanently at Fleurmay, rue de Rivoli. Strongly supported by André Renou, they are present at the Salon des Artistes-Décorateurs, alongside the creations of Line Vautrin and Denise Gatard. -
