Description
You are viewing an amazing part of history from the Astor Hotel in New York City. Acquired from the family of the original Maitre d' of the Astor Hotel roof top garden restaurant. The hotel was built in the Parisian "Beaux Arts" style and was shown off throughout the hotel and roof top garden. John Astor had many of the items in the hotel that were either acquired from museums, or made for him in France and other parts of Europe and Asia for many of the exquisitely decorated themed rooms.
Signed "Louis Moreau" Mutualite on the base as well as the plaque in the back of the base. The piece is formed in metal and not bronze, with hints of the original dark green and dark red paint. It most likely had glass shades attached but we can not confirm this design. Its a great conversation piece and functional piece of art. - More Information
