Description
Polychrome pottery jar with realistic parrot images, katsina tableta design, designs from excavated Anasazi pottery shards and Zuni roundel design. Probably made at Oraibi* (please see reference listed below).

Origin: United States, New Mexico Period: 19th Century Materials: Natural clay and white slip that crackled upon firing (associated with Polacca pottery). Hand coiled, slipped, and fired over an open fire made of dried sheep dung and straw. Condition: Excellent. A few chips on the rim and normal wear, as is expected of a pot this age. There is a stable hairline crack emanating from one of the chips. Creation Date: Circa 1880-1890.
