Silver Plated Covered Tureen with Deer & Ram Motif, Circa 1885 (Meriden)

Description
Very unusual western Americana theme silver plated covered tureen, consisting of four feet of cast and silver plated deer heads; rams heads on each end; and opposite facing deer heads at the top of the lid to lift off of the bowl.
Sides and top are decorated with elaborate floral engravings.
It was manufactured by Meriden B. Co. and is appropriately marked with a scale in a shield and “1869 4” stamped in the base. American company and made circa 1880’s.
Silver plate is in excellent condition and there are no dents or gouges to either the bowl or the lid of the tureen.
Dimensions: 14 ½” long (ram end to ram end) x 12” high x 9” wide.
