-
Description
Etched bronze coffee table designed and crafted by Philip LaVerne (1908-1988), Kelvin LaVerne (b. 1936), New York, circa 1960s. Patinated and polychromed bronze table features Michelangelo's graceful work is represented by a simple sihouette of the 'Creation of Man.' The model of this series is less common in the round shape and its massive size, mostly likely a custom order. The surface image was achieved by the Lavernes' etching and color application as well as delicate techniques to create a patinated background. The table rests on a center circular fluted base, giving a floating visual effect. Signed Philip Kelvin LaVerne 'After Michelangelo. It still retains the paper sticker underneath showing the original owner's information.
