Presented here is a wonderful example of Jizai Okimono, an unusual patinated bronze Grasshopper. Myochin-School of Japan c.1868 to 1912 . When the wings are removed a hidden compartment is revealed. Finely incised metal detail throughout, including articulated legs creating a very natural & realistic insect. A rare & beautiful conversation piece.
