Description
Inscribed: Markreda Conradin, 1806
The chest is highlighted with three tomb-stone panels with white ground colors and polychrome paint depicting tulips, hex design six pointed stars and stamped rosettes on the front panel.
The central panel is inscribed: Markreda Conradin 1806. Similar chests made by this hand are illustrated in M. Fabian's book, The Pennsylvania German Dower Chest. -

Origin: United States, Pennsylvania Period: 19th Century Materials: Poplar, polychrome paint; pine secondary Condition: Excellent. Restoration to the front right foot and back right foot facing. Black paint restored on the feet, otherwise all other paint decoration is in excellent condition. Original hardware.
