This is a silvered bronze model of the Hawker Hunter jet aircraft flown by Squadron Leader Neville Duke in which he set World Speed records of 727.63 and 709.23 mph, in1953. Squadron Leader Neville Frederick Duke, DSO, OBE (11 January 1922 – 7 April 2007) was a British test pilot and fighter ace of the Second World War. He was the most successful Western Allied ace in the Mediterranean Theatre, and was credited with the destruction of 27 enemy aircraft. After the end of the war, Duke was acknowledged as one of the world's foremost test pilots. This is a small desk top trophy model that has an ashtray base. For non-smokers, the base can be used as a vide-poche or catchall for keys, cuff links, etc... An unusual and historical piece, and a perfect gift for an aviation collector.
