A rare pair of large Buddhism paintings that depicts Shakyamuni Buddha and Manjushri Bodhisattva. These antique paintings were made with ink, color and gilt on paper and executed in a Ming dynasty style and iconography. They are likely dated to the late 18th century to early 19th century in Qing dynasty. Originally, they were part of a triptych hanging scrolls that depict the Buddhism Trinity with the Buddha in the centre, flanked by Manjushri and Samantabhadra. The Samantabhadra was likely lost while these two on offer were preserved.

Origin: China Period: 19th Century Materials: ink, pigment, gold on paper Condition: Good. In good to fair condition with expected age related wear and losses throughout. The paper has crackles and minor rips laying down on the board. The color remain vibrant with some expected fading.
