Jonathan Cross's ceramic vessels are formed with an ancient wood firing technique which the artist employs to create usable sculpture, vases and vessels the resemble ancient geological forms reinterpreted for a modern world. Merging sculpture and utility, the vessel are both minimalist, brutalist and with texture and color that references the artists passion for geology and contemporary art. Each piece is unique. Pavilion is the collective vision of Deborah Colman and Neil Kraus, both graduates of the master of fine arts program at the Art Institute of Chicago. From a longstanding interest in art and design, frequent buying trips to France and Italy have influenced the direction of the gallery to offer items that are not easily sourced in Chicago and United States.
