Harvey Probber preferred simple lines in his designs. He would often use hardware and color in upholstery or wood to add contrast and emphasize the details. He was known for his large sweeping sectionals and his use of subtle colors with upholstery usually textured for a pleasing touch. His noteworthy contemporaries, Edward Wormley and T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings, incorporated a similar aesthetic.
