French 19th Century Ceramic Barbotine Planter
-
Description
A splendid glazed Barbotine ceramic planter, made at the end of the 19th century in France. The work has an aquatic/marine theme, with the bowl being formed from stacked oyster shells that are cradled by precious coral. Each side showcases a green glazed iguana, done in haut-relief. The interior has been finished in an exceptional robin egg blue that provides a lovely contrast to the exterior. Scrolled escargot feet lift the planter and wonderfully continue the costal theme!
