Description
Sculptural coffee table base in black lacquered solid oak with 1" plate glass top. An important design from Probber's experimental early period, after his return from Paris in the late 1940s. The biomorphic designs of this period are directly influenced by his exposure to European Modernist art and design of the time. This design was highly regarded in its day and was employed in the custom interiors of such design icons as Samuel Marx (who incorporated one into his own Chicago living room).
