Floor lamp by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings for Hansen. Lamp, model 213, has two light sockets.
Reference: The Widdicomb Furniture Company poster, unpaginated.
Markings: Hansen New York imprint.
T. H. Robsjohn Gibbings’ design is known for elegance and stature. He favored an organic approach to his edges, legs and corners that gave a roundness or softness that differed greatly from his Bauhaus predecessors. He was also influenced by ancient Greek design, creating a timelessness to his work. His noteworthy contemporaries, Edward Wormley and Harvey Probber, incorporated a similar aesthetic. -
