French Restauration Burr Ash Chest of Drawers, c. 1825
-
Description
French restauration (Charles X) burl ash chest of drawers, the gray marble-top (Blue Turquin) over four long drawers, each with purple-heart inlay and a fine locking mechanism; the turned bun feet joined by a secret drawer.
This beautiful chest boasts many fine features, including the blue turquin marble-top and the intricate figuring to the veneer. But it's most unusual feature is the lock and key. The spade shaped pin requires an identically shaped key, as seen in the photos, rendering the drawers invincible to all but the most advanced burglars. -
