CHUNG-IM KIM
Chung-Im Kim was born in Seoul, Korea and received her MFA from Seoul Women's University in 1984.  She began her career working in the textile industry as a surface pattern designer while also teaching and running a studio in Seoul before moving to Canada in 1990.  Since her arrival, Kim has been a resident in the Textile Studio at Harbourfront Centre and a freelance designer in the design industry before becoming an associate professor in the Fibre Dept at OCAD University in Toronto.  Kim places equal emphasis on both her teaching and artistic career.  Her role as an educator has expanded towards institutional collaborations challenging her students to work in a variety of public settings.  At the same time she has also maintained an active studio practice: upcoming exhibitions include a group exhibition “Objects in Flux” at Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, USA in August 2015 and “Soul of Bowl” at Bogojae Gallery in Seoul, Korea, and solo exhibition at David Kaye Gallery in Toronto both in Oct 2015.
