An exquisite Swiss, circa 1890, exotic-woods games box of rectangular form with canted edges; the slightly domed top with brass and ebony inlaid perimeters surrounding geometric nacre (mother-of-pearl), ebony, and brass inlaid border framing book-matched kingwood-veneered top with central inlaid elongated octagonal brass engraved initials plaque with nacre, ebony, and brass borders; the sides with ebony and brass string-inlaid borders with kingwood chevron veneers; integral wreath-form locking key mechanism reveals lacquered rosewood and brass-inlaid interior with eleven compartments, the center compartment with removable tray holding burled amboyna and bone counter tablets, other compartments with original carved bone counters, markers, and original polychrome Swiss cross in floral wreath lithographed playing cards.
