ALAIN COUPAS, born in Paris in 1954.
Travel is for him the first steps towards his studio.
He brought photos, drawings and visual memories he keeps carefully, to make them disappear then when his real painter's work is started.
In the silence of his studio, he likes convene the impressive sensation that gives each emotion long range itself. His paintings suggest more than they say, citing the existence of desert expanses, abyssal depths, uncharted territories, continental surfaces.
Alain Coupas employs an epoxy resin whose transparency reminiscent the glass, and handling difficult and risky. His twenty-five years of experience give his paintings a unique presence, through unequaled technical achievements.
The successive resinous layers trap the pigments in suspension, petrifying colors meanders. This millefeuille born opalescence reminiscent of cut and polished stones trenches, large terrestrial upheavals, molten lava. The mirror of the world seems to stand before us, poetically sliding of deep into magic. -
