Monumental Louis XVI style console 1950’s
-
Description
Though this console stamped Maison Jansen was made during the 1950’s, it’s not only its style that’s of the Louis XVI period in furniture making—its quality construction would make it fit in among antiques furniture. Creme painted wood forms its legs and part of its top, with brass details, including around the feet and for drawer handles and keyholes. The table’s surface is leather and is covered with a glass protective top. Its shape, with straight lines and refined legs, immediately refers to the classic shapes of the Louis XVI period. The console is massive in length and would therefore do well in a large living room or entryway that can support its impressive, stately size. Maintained in very good vintage condition, this piece is unique for its size and finesse.
