Unique Neoclassical French shagreen brass glass console table 1980s
-
Description
Designed in the French Neoclassical style during the 1980’s, this vintage console table would make a stately, textural piece for a entryway or corridor. Made from wood and then covered in shagreen, or sharkskin, the boxy frame and mottled, organic look of the beige shagreen make for an interesting contrast. Two slender drawers slide open from the front, and a transparent glass top allows you to see within the drawers even when they’re shut—perfect for storing important and pretty keepsakes out of the way, while still allowing them to be on display in your home. Each drawer has a decorative brass handle. Though the designer of this quite unique piece is unknown, the table is an example of quality vintage French Neoclassical, with some twinges of Art Deco inspiration.
