Late 18th Century Gustavian Painted White Daybed Sofa
-
Description
Early antique Gustavian style daybed or sofa, made in Sweden circa 1790. Painted a natural white, worn with honest age, with warm blonde wood seen underneath. The lovely patina enhances the carved details throughout the frame. Pinewood frame has beautiful hand-carved details--vase turned stiles, acanthus leaf finials, and sunflower medallions. Boxy silhouette with clean lines would look as fabulous in a modern home as a traditional Swedish country home. Bench seat opens to reveal additional storage for linens and blankets. The plush seat cushion has been replenished and upholstered in new Swedish fabric. Not yet pictured here, please get in touch for additional photos of upholstery.
