In an extremely decorative soft Brutalist design, the cast bronze frame with square corners in relief is skilfully crafted and decorated with ruffled bands inset in a sculpted textured border, executed with exceptional craftsmanship. Can be hung in any orientation.
Excellent original condition.
Luciano Frigerio, Italian Designer, Artist and Musician, (1928-1999) was born in Desio where his father Giovanni established a small workshop of high quality cabinet making in 1889. He obtained his Accounting diploma while cultivating and combining his two great passions of designing furniture and composing music. In 1977, he was dubbed "Maestro Compositore” (Master Composer) and obtained copyrights for his music which was broadcast on Italian RAI channels. The socio-economic reality of Brianza, in those years, offered great entrepreneurial opportunities in furniture. His frequent visits to prestigious studios like Canturine, where he often met masters like Gio' Ponti, Franco Albini, Carlo de Carli and Tapio Wirkkala, lead him to transform his small family business into a company oriented to the International market with his "Mobile Scultura" Collection. Luciano believed that even an architect could design a unique and highly crafted piece of furniture realized by a cabinet maker with an aesthetic approach, unlike that of the Industrial scale: a Work of Art with a functionality. His works have been featured at prestigious shows and displayed in permanent exhibitions all-over Italy. He died in Sanremo in 1999. -
