Pamela Ingwers

American, 1957

My focus as a painter is to tell a story, and the language I use is light. My goal is to translate that light into color, form and atmosphere knowing that only painting from life reveals the true spirit and strong sense of place, when patiently studied with a paintbrush in hand. It is both a passion and a challenge to react to the magical elements unfolding within a scene, while ignoring any preconceived feelings or visions.

While I’ve worked in a variety of mediums over the years, I now primarily focus on oils, as I love its ability to be manipulated on my canvas with expressive brush work.

Currently living in San Diego but born and raised in Colorado, I am grateful for the opportunities beyond my University years to have studied with many masters in the field including Watts Atelier, Ray Roberts, Jeremy Lipking, Roger Dale Brown, Eric Merrill and Calvin Liang. Many thanks to them and others who have had such a positive impact on my lifelong journey as an artist. I am honored that both my studio and plein air paintings from home and abroad have captured the attention of some very important collectors, including the San Diego Maritime Museum.
