Dutch 19th Century Oak Bookcase
-
Description
This impressive and large oak bookcase is from the Netherlands, c.1860’s, and breaks down into two pieces. The cornice’s front is hinged for ease of storing larger pieces and is likely a later addition. It rests above four adjustable shelves and carved shoulders in a repeated demi-lune motif. The base is set with a pair of paneled doors with inset bone escutcheons and open to reveal a single removable shelf. The whole rests on bracket feet. Accompanied by two keys. This piece will work beautifully in a kitchen for display and storage of cookbooks and dinnerware or in a library or den.
