Description
This pair of white carved marble carpets are from India, c. 1890. Carpet weights were used outdoors on a terrace or veranda and intended to hold light-weight summer carpets, typically made from cotton or silk, in place at the corners in the event of a breeze. These carpet weights would also make nice bookends or decorative elements indoors or out.
