Germano Marchetti is a master Italian furniture designer currently living in Barcelona. He began his career in 1998, where he worked in partnership with interior designers and architects in renovating residential projects in various historic districts from the 1920’s-1950’s. While remodeling these vintage properties he began to mix historic references with contemporary elements. Now devoting his full time to furniture design, Germano employs his cultural and artistic education and experiences to design pieces that have unique character and personality while faithfully incorporating functionality and comfort. His furniture most often originates from design references of the early decades of the 20th Century, from art deco 20’s/30’s to mid-century modern. But by referring to, but not copying from, those time periods, Germano then, through his unique use of wood, metal, glass and stone, brings a new, fresh interpretation that results in something quite new, with unique character while still being rooted in the great design traditions of the early 20th Century. The result is a style which Germano calls Ricerche temporali (a/k/a temporally researched design). While each piece he creates is unique, he can customize any existing designed piece to accommodate a client’s space, needs and aesthetics. Of course, Germano is available to work on commissioned pieces which are created specifically for a specific client.
