This is a large model of a streamlined miniature race car. These models are designed and hand built to race on circular tracks. They are tethered from a pole at the center of the track and the speeds are timed. They can travel at speeds up to 165 mph. This particular model was built in Detroit in 1990 and runs on a Picco gas powered engine made in Italy. It is a very attractive model, even if you do not want to race it, makes a very nice decoration for an office or den.
