Pair of 'Juliette' Armchairs by Guillerme and Chambron, France 1950s
-
Description
The Guillerme et Chambron ‘Juliette’ armchairs display a beautiful contrast between the light wooden oak frame and the elegant sand colored fabric of the cushions. With a solid wooden frame, the support for the back is made with six wooden spindles extending upwards yet slightly curved, resulting in a rounded backrest. The circular cushion, that emphasizes the spindles of the backrest, have recently been re-upholstered in a premium bouclé fabric by Dedar. At the back the cushions stay in position by loops encompassing the spindles. The bottom consists of a cushion framed by the curved wooden armrests which extend to the legs.
About the designers:
Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron worked together in order to create this exquisite set. Guillerme studied architecture, however after WWII moved to Lille and continued designing furniture. Chambron knew Guillerme for years and moved in order to work together with him on furniture. Their company called Your House was an overarching theme seen in their work, as both Guillerme and Chabron believed home to be a family place providing both comfort and aesthetic features. -
