Fine Chinese Antique Art Deco Rug
-
Description
A hand knotted Chinese Art Deco rug circa 1920s-1930s, likely made in one of Walter Nichols' factories in China for export to the western market. The high quality rug features a soft mink color field with a pale pink border. The wool surface is very smooth with a luxurious silky appearance. The rug was woven with an array of classic ornamentation motifs in the center field that exemplifies the style of Oriental Art Deco, such as the stylized vases and floral arrangement including peonies and lotus blossom. The ornamental motif was composed in harmonious arrangement and eye-pleasing colors order. The rug is not overly decorated and with its muted color palette, it will add a historical and cultural touch in even a very modern space.
A well preserved and wonderful example of the Nichols style Art Deco rug. -
