Here we are have a Louis XVI style antique French canape / sette retaining is original gold leaf on a beautifully carved wood frame.
The carving of this piece is stunning and of the highest quality by a master cabinet maker. The back is framed with carved curved wood in a kind of cartouche shape with delicate scrolls through out down to the lovely cabriole leg. A outstanding example of a french canape/settlee.
This piece came from a family that immigrated to America in 1937. -
