Pair of Warren McArthur armchairs Model 1250 AR manufactured in Rome, New York circa 1934/35.
This chair is the last entry in the Warren McArthur Corporation catalog published for the 1936 American Institute of Architecture convention at which these chairs were presented.
In 1934 Warren McArthur applied for Patent 2,035,489 which was confirmed in March, 1936. The lead image of a chair for this furniture patent very closely resembles the Schlindler dining chair that was produced by Warren McArthur for the Schindler designed restaurant Sardi's in Los Angeles, CA.
This chair is identical to that chair except that the four separate tubes end in rubber feet which differs from the patented chair a base tube connects the rear and front legs running along the floor.
Two other interesting aspects of this pair of chairs are the rubber arm rests (1250 AR) and the flattened end tube caps which is a very early design motif.
The chairs have expected wear from eighty five of existence. They are in very good vintage condition with no cracked tubes and minor anodized wear. -
