Framed Antique Chinese Embroidery Panel Qing Dynasty Provenance

An antique Chinese embroidery panel, originally the sleeve band of a Manchurian robe of Qing Dynasty, circa 19th century. Nicely presented as a textile art with creative and meticulous matting and framing. Originally from Norton's Oriental Gallery in Newport, Rhode Island by Kathleen Norton, this piece of lovely textile showcases cranes flying among plum and chrysanthemum blossom on a cream silk background. A phoenix with red tail feathers in the center, provides the only contrast in the mostly blue and white threads. Done with meticulous satin stitches, a matching cutout embroidery accent motif was placed on the corner to create a lovely balancing visual. Gallery label and note remain on the back as shown.
