-
Description
A manufacturer's model of a de Haviland DH. 91 Albatross airplane. This airplane was designed & built in 1938 & was intended to be a luxury air service to Europe & the Orient. A total of only seven of these very modern aircraft were built between 1938-39. This is the prototype model, it is made from painted wood & has a wingspan of 27" & the length is 18" it is in the original wooden carrying case. These aircraft were used as passenger airplanes by Imperial Airways, but with the onset of World War Two the RAF considered their speed & range useful & they were pressed into service with 271 RAF Squadron. Over time the paint in some areas of this model had cracked, it was professionally restored to the original condition. This is a very rare Art Deco streamlined style model in excellent condition.
