This impressive Scandinavian dining set of seven has an undeniable commanding presence; it begs to be left alone so that air and light can circulate through it. Marked by pale colours, natural materials and lean furniture, the Scandinavian aesthetic emphasises tradition and craftsmanship, and while there is a great deal of overlap between Scandinavian and mid-century modern design, the biggest differences can be found in the lighting and colour palette. As this set demonstrates, the style primarily focuses on muted tones and textures, favouring light wood.

This set, consisting of a large dining table and six chairs, could be textbook examples of why Scandinavian furniture pieces are coveted: each of the pieces are made of solid oak with a beautiful grain and colour. The chairs and table combine a strong angular structure with curved edges, which results in an overall impression of strength and durability. The stand-out visual appeal is provided by the table’s and the slender backrests’ wavy pattern that echo the razorblade design of the famous Danish designer, Henning Kjaernulf. The distinctive pattern also appears under the chair seats on the front, forming a great visual effect as a set. The two accent chairs with armrests are prefect for the table tops, making this an impressive dining set.

The details, such as the extendable table top, the joinery and woodworking reveal the quality craftsmanship of the Scandinavian manufacturer. The chairs feature upholstered seats in a premium fabric that complement the light wooden colour. The most charming thing about this Scandinavian furniture set however, is that it has a lot of classic elements, there is so much history there, but it lends itself easily to a modern interior.

In good vintage condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Some scratches and marks on the wood. The chairs have been reupholstered recently in premium fabric.
