French 19th Century Painted Trumeau Mirror
-
Description
Dimensions: 81-1/4″H x 55″W
French painted and carved wood trumeau. The craftsmanship of this piece is outstanding. The crest above the mirror begins with twin swans holding strings of pearls in their beaks top with flowers, going into swirling designs with more swans, flowers and leaves. Surrounding the Trumeau on 3 sides is a pierced twined elaborate ribbon design. The mercury mirror glass is old. This particular mirror would have rested over a mantel due to it’s unfinished base, possibly part of custom boiserie. Early 1800’s. -
