Sold Sold
  • Description
Presenting a lovely 19th century French low side table with musical Marquetry top.

    Made in France, circa 1880-1890.

Made of walnut with various exotic veneers.

The top of the table is beautifully inlaid with rosewood, satinwood, ebony, hare wood and kingwood inlays in a musical theme, with a violin, books and sheet music interspersed with flowers or floral arrangement.

Very much in the style of the Marquetry work produced by Grohe Freres.

The tabletop is edged in chased brass molding.

The base section has brass ormolu florettes on each corner above an ormolu topped fluted and tapering leg which sits on brass ormolu feet.

The edges are decorated with brass ormolu swags and a porcelain plaque in the Limoges or Sèvres style surrounded by 2 Cherubs. The porcelain plaque featuring 2 lovers with the male serenading the female.

This is a really ‘pretty’ little table in excellent original condition.
