$ 57,500
  • Description
    Pair of antique Meiji period Japanese cloisonne enamel vases
    Japanese, late 19th Century

    These beautiful Japanese vases were crafted during the Meiji period of the late 19th Century, which was referred to as the Golden Age of cloisonne enameling.

    The vases are of elongated ovoid shape, with waisted necks and flare rims. The vases are decorated all over in the cloisonne enamel technique, with foliage, flowers and birds on a striking maroon ground, which has been further inlaid with goldstone - a type of glass that glitters when polished.
