Pair of Wharton Esherick (attrib) Counter Stools
-
Description
c. 1950s/60s, biomorphic carved walnut or redgum seat on three hickory legs joined by staggered dowels, all mortise and tenon construction with exposed tenon joints on legs and seat. These were built as a true pair from the same piece of walnut, with almost identically shaped seat and closely matched wood grain. Both unsigned, which is unusual but not unheard of for Esherick. Age, material and construction lead to a strong attribution to Esherick or his studio.
