Adrian Pearsal Slim Jim High-Back Lounge Chair, Circa 1955 Atomic Age
-
Description
This Adrian Pearsall chair reflects the height of Atomic Age furniture design during the mid-20th century. Designated as the "Slim Jim" chair, this piece of comfortable seating is also notable as a sculpture in wood and colored fabric. The wood is walnut and the fabric is a nubby-textured bright orange wool fabric, which is original to the piece. The chair stands out in any room as a conversation and statement piece. The high, narrow back with its bowed crest gives this chair a modern twist to the traditional wing chair. The smooth, canted legs in walnut give the silhouette a bold, modern stance. One could imagine commanding a spacecraft seated in this chair, or sitting an honored guest in it to be warmed at the fireside. It is very comfortable, fun to sit in, and will present a striking presence with a jolt of color in your home. This is a single chair.
