This is an outstanding lounge chair designed by Jorge Zalszupin during the Brazilian midcentury. The "Oxford" lounge chair is a great example of a design with perfect proportions. The elegant structure frame is made of chromed tubular steel and the nice squarish shape of the upholstery creates a very interesting look to this piece. The materials are disposed of in such a way as to create a sense of balance and lightness, offering one of the best examples of Zalszupin's work. This piece was restored by one of the best craftsmen in São Paulo.
Originally born in Poland, Jorge Zalszupin built his entire career in Brazil, where he's absorbed many influences for his design, especially the care and attention for the treatment of the tropical wood.
Zalszupin is known for its impeccable woodcraft expertise, care, and attention to detail. Besides his unique way of combining geometric lines and organic shapes, the love for wood and the constant dialogue with traditional craft techniques brings a level of quality to his creation that is rare and celebrated worldwide to this day.
