Pedestal Table attributed to Maison Jansen in the Style of Adam Weisweiler

  • Description
    Pedestal table in gilded bronze with an upper top in white marble, supported by three feet, each made of three rods imitating bamboo which end in a spinning top foot, the feet are linked together by a spacer decorated with a central pellet. The veined white marble top is surrounded by a gallery. Under the gallery is an iron band decorated with crosses and rosettes. Above each of the three feet is a rosette in a square frame.

    This pedestal table is in the spirit of a piece of furniture by Adam Weisweiler (1744-1820) but was made around 1950. At the end of the 19th century, such high quality furniture was, among others, produced by Maison Jansen which was inspired by old French models.

While training as a chemist and working in scent creation at Rochas Parfums, Pascal Weitz developed his taste for beauty, colors, perfumes and textures. And then, more than 35 years ago he discovered his true passion in the profession of antique dealer, starting out in a booth at the Flea Market on rue l’Ecuyer. With a partner in curating in all materials, he invested in the Paul Bert and Serpette Markets in 1998 and Biron in 2013, became an active member of the Amicale des Puces.
