Description
A collection of six solid mahogany George III tea caddies and boxes from England between ca. 1760-1815. Each having a similar rectangular shape, moulded tops, brass escutcheons, brass swing handles, bracket feet, all with working lock and keys. A hand French polish brings out the exquisite grain patterns and exact inlay. Following are descriptions of each caddy/box by number. 2: Flame mahogany box with triple division interior. Solid brass bracket feet. Ebony edging along the very top. Original fabric lining underneath the lid. 3: Mahogany tea caddy original removable interior pewter containers for green tea, black tea and sugar. Small slot for a tea spoon. Ebony edging along the very top, each of the five sides framed by delicate boxwood and ebony pinstripe inlay. Original fabric underneath the very top. 4: Mahogany box with bracket feet, lined interior, original fabric underneath the lid. Large decorative brass escutcheon. 5: Mahogany box with bracket feet, large decorative escutcheon and lined interior. 6: Mahogany tea caddy with original and removable pewter cannisters for black, green tea and sugar. Slot for a spoon. Original fabric underneath the lid. 7: Mahogany box with lined interior, original fabric underneath the lid. Ormolu brass swing handle and escutcheon
