The Sphaera is a large, round aluminum table with a diameter of 200 cm. This object stimulates the senses by inviting you to examine whether the surface is flat or curved. To experience this curve, the table comes with a small metal ball which makes this table an interactive object.
Simultaneously once the table is set, all the tableware will direct to one imaginary CenterPoint in space.
The table-top consists of only six mm thick aluminIum. A six-meter wide industrial machine is used to force the aluminum in a curved shape. Like a craftsman can beat out a copper sphere with a hammer. Thanks to this curved shape, the table becomes constructive and rigid. The refined details of the removable legs complete the design.
Sphaera is about energy, concentration, and meditation. -
