French Mahogany Directoire Writing Desk

Description
A handsome Directoire style writing desk crafted in France, circa 1820. Well worn hazelnut toned shagreen creates a cozy, welcoming place to work. A wonderful patina envelopes the distinctive mahogany veneer body. The apron houses two drink slides and two drawers. The slides are in fantastic condition and feature green leather with gold tooling. Each drawer contains a working lock and simple brass escutcheon. Two keys are included. Finished on all sides giving it the ability to float in the center of an office or library. Tapered, rectangular legs support the whole and feature protective brass sabots.
