Pair of Large Anduze Jars by the Gauthier Poterie

Description
Pair of large Anduze jars (planters) by the Gauthier poterie, circa 1790-1809. Decorated in dark brown and green drip glaze and adorned with swag decoration in raised relief. Marked with the Gauthier crest in cartouche. It is believed that the Gautier family were the first to make this style jar in Anduze during the 17th century, or early 18th century. Some chipping at base and rim consistent with age and use. Drainage hole in bottom of jar. Jars sold together and priced $13,000 for the pair.
