-
Description
U.S.A. (1920–1987) A pioneer both in molded plywood and prefab housing, Norman Cherner studied and taught at the Columbia University Fine Arts Department and was an instructor at the Museum of Modern Art in New York from 1947 to 1949.
Cherner's molded plywood armchairs are a mid-century staple! Originally introduced in 1958, the "Pretzel" armchair has an organic form consisting of molded plywood. Light-weight, comfy and super sturdy.
Condition: Both retain their original labels. One plastic foot replaced. Minor and hard to see walnut veneer patches to top edges of backs. Light restoration includes a chemical cleaning of the old finish. Oiling and burnished satin lacquer clear coat provides fresh luster. The original rich and warm walnut patina is preserved, so the chairs feel and look great!. -
