Description
Portrait of great emotional impact in oil on canvas.
On a black background stands the face of an unidentified and hardly identifiable figure, made with vigorous brushstrokes with an almost materic effect.
The canvas is signed in green, bottom right; unfortunately the signature is not legible.
The only clue (albeit fleeting and not exhaustive) that leads to a possible Belgian origin of the artist, is the stamp on the back of the frame, which refers to a framer from Liège, who has ceased his activity, towards the late 1950s.
The current frame, in gold leaf on wood, is new and was made by our trusted artisans.
