Metropolis Large Framed 3-Sheet Lithograph Poster

$ 5,500
  • Description
    A striking Metropolis Large Framed 3-Sheet Lithograph Poster
    The original poster is one of the rarest film posters in the world, selling for $500,000+ at auction. This is a faithful copy in full size.This limited edition 3-sheet lithograph preserves a classic work of art from the Golden Age of Posters (1865-1939). It was re-created in 1997 by S-2 Art Group, New York City, after the 1926 original by Schulz-Neudamm. Litho is in excellent condition, frame and plexiglass have minor scuffs. Considered the high point of German Expressionist cinema, 'Metropolis' was inspired by a visit to New York City in 1924 by Director Fritz Lang. Written by Lang and his wife, Thea von Harbou, it is a vision of technology as master. Lange framed his story of the fight for individual freedom against an overpowering and amoral cityscape of subterranean factories, skyscrapers, and the ever-resent hordes of blank-faced workers.Overall size: 90 x 42 1/2 in. Art size: 83.5 x 36 in.
